Mechanism
A cyclic lactam heptapeptide modelled on alpha-MSH, built on the same constrained His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp scaffold as Melanotan II but ending in a free C-terminal acid rather than an amide. It is studied as a melanocortin receptor ligand, with its highest reported affinity at MC4R and MC1R, in receptor-binding and signalling assays.
